One in three teens in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner. Greater recognition of teen relationship violence has led to advanced service models that are useful for addressing the unique needs of teen victims. Participants will learn (a) how to recognize and screen for teen dating violence, including abuse that may extend into online and mobile spaces; (b) how to do age-appropriate risk assessment and safety planning that accounts for teens’ unique needs; (c) what legal rights and responsibilities must be considered when working with teens; and (d) how to effectively connect with other local resources available to support teen victims.
Who should attend? Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend. Continuing Education Units available for Social Workers, LCSWs, MFTs, and Nurses.
